Lapu-lapu City in cooperation with the Coastal Conservation and Education Foundation, Inc. and other green-minded groups in the City will participate in the 27th International Coastal Clean-up Celebration on September 15, 2012 with the theme: "Trash Free Seas". Opening program starts at 6:00 in the morning at the Mactan Shrine, Brgy. Mactan, Lapu-lapu City.

Data collected from last year's coastal cleanup tells us that the following are the most common types of trash found in our seas.

  1. bags (plastic)
  2. food wrappers/containers
  3. styrofoam
  4. cigarette/cigarette filters
  5. clothing/shoes
  6. straws/stirrers
  7. plastic sheating/tarps
  8. beverage bottles (glass)
  9. beverage bottles (plastic)
  10. caps/lids.

Will it be the same this year?
